Meta Tag Checker for Wix, Squarespace & Webflow: Audit No-Code Sites

How to check and fix meta tags on Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, and other website builders. Find missing SEO tags, fix Open Graph issues, and optimize your no-code site with a free meta tag checker.

Website builders and meta tags

Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Weebly, and similar no-code website builders generate meta tags automatically based on your page settings. But automatic does not mean correct — the builder may output duplicate title tags, missing meta descriptions, broken Open Graph images, or no schema markup at all. The only way to know for sure is to run your live URL through a meta tag checker.

Our meta tag checker works with any website, including builder-generated pages. Paste your URL on the [checker page](https://meta-tag-checker.appsnap.co.uk/checker) and get an instant report showing every meta tag the builder outputs — and which ones are missing or broken.

The most common issue with no-code sites: the builder auto-generates a title tag from the page name, which is often too short, duplicated across pages, or missing keyword relevance. A meta tag checker reveals this immediately so you can go back to the builder's SEO settings and fix it.

How to check meta tags on Wix

Wix generates meta tags from the page SEO settings panel. To check if Wix is outputting the right tags: publish your site, then run the live URL through the meta tag checker. The report will show your title tag, meta description, canonical URL, Open Graph tags, and whether Wix has added any JSON-LD schema.

Common Wix meta tag problems: the og:image is missing or points to a Wix media CDN URL that is too large (Wix does not always optimize social images). The title tag may include the site name twice. The meta description may be empty if you have not filled in the SEO description field.

To fix: go to Wix Dashboard > SEO Tools > Page Meta Tags, fill in the SEO title and description for each page, upload a dedicated social share image, then re-run the meta tag checker to verify the changes took effect.

  • Run the checker on your Wix site URL
  • Fix missing title tags in SEO Tools > Page Meta Tags
  • Upload a 1200x630 social share image for og:image
  • Check that Wix's auto-generated canonical tags are correct
  • Re-run the checker to confirm all fixes are live

How to check meta tags on Squarespace

Squarespace generates meta tags from the page settings panel. Title tags come from the page title, and meta descriptions come from the SEO description field in page settings. The meta tag checker validates that Squarespace is outputting these correctly.

Common Squarespace issues: the title tag appends the site name, making it too long. The og:image is missing if you have not set a social sharing image. Squarespace also injects its own schema markup — the checker will show you whether it is valid JSON-LD.

To fix: edit each page > Settings > SEO > fill in SEO title and description. Set a social sharing image in Page Settings > Social Image. Re-run the checker to verify. If you run an online store, also check product page meta tags — Squarespace generates these from product data, and missing product names lead to duplicate or empty title tags.

How to check meta tags on Webflow

Webflow gives you the most control over meta tags of any visual builder. Each page has fields for title tag, meta description, Open Graph image, and custom code injection for schema markup. The meta tag checker validates that your Webflow settings are correctly outputting all tags.

Common Webflow issues: the title tag field is left at the default (page name only, no keyword optimization). Schema markup is not added by default — you need to inject JSON-LD via custom code in the page head. Open Graph tags may be missing if you have not set the social image.

To fix: go to Page Settings > fill in the SEO title, meta description, and Open Graph fields. For schema, add JSON-LD in the custom code section. Publish and re-run the checker.

Once your meta tags are clean, make sure your social media presence is consistent. Use the [Social Media Bio Generator](https://social-media-bio-generator.appsnap.co.uk) to craft platform-specific bios that match your site's messaging, and the [Barcode Generator](https://barcode-generator.appsnap.co.uk) to create QR codes linking to your optimized pages for print materials.

Frequently Asked Questions

Wix adds basic meta tags automatically, but the title tag comes from the page name and the meta description may be empty. Always run a meta tag checker after publishing to verify the tags are correct and optimized.

The meta tag checker needs a publicly accessible URL, so you must publish first. However, Squarespace allows you to set a site-wide password — the checker can still read the meta tags from the HTML even behind a password page for some checks. For a full audit, publish without a password.

Webflow does not add schema markup automatically. You need to inject JSON-LD structured data via the custom code field in Page Settings. The meta tag checker detects whether your schema is present and valid.
